Syndesmophytes

Syndesmophytes are bony growths originating from the outer fibers of spinal ligaments, bridging adjacent vertebrae and contributing to spinal fusion. They are clinically significant as markers of chronic inflammation and structural damage in spondyloarthropathies, particularly ankylosing spondylitis, where they cause reduced spinal mobility and pain.
