Ischemic pain is discomfort caused by inadequate blood flow and oxygen delivery to tissues, leading to cellular hypoxia and metabolic distress. It is clinically important as it signals tissue injury or risk of infarction, requiring prompt diagnosis and intervention to restore perfusion. A common example is angina pectoris, where myocardial ischemia causes chest pain indicative of coronary artery disease.
