Palpable nodules are discrete, firm lumps that can be felt beneath the skin or within soft tissues during physical examination. They are clinically important as their presence may indicate underlying pathology such as inflammation, benign growths, or malignancy, guiding further diagnostic evaluation. For example, palpable thyroid nodules warrant assessment to exclude thyroid cancer or other thyroid disorders.
