Bone marrow oedema is an abnormal accumulation of interstitial fluid within the bone marrow, visible as increased signal intensity on MRI. It indicates underlying bone stress, inflammation, or injury, aiding diagnosis and guiding treatment. Commonly associated with trauma or osteoarthritis, it can predict pain severity and risk of progression to bone necrosis.
