Spinal trauma refers to injury to the spinal column or spinal cord caused by external mechanical forces, such as fractures, dislocations, or cord contusions. It is critical in clinical practice due to the risk of permanent neurological deficits, including paralysis. A key complication is spinal cord injury, which can lead to loss of motor and sensory function below the lesion level.
