AVP2 receptors

AVP2 receptors, or arginine vasopressin type 2 receptors, are G protein-coupled receptors located primarily in the renal collecting ducts, mediating the effects of vasopressin on water reabsorption. Their clinical significance lies in their role in conditions like nephrogenic diabetes insipidus, where mutations can impair water retention, leading to polyuria and dehydration. Understanding AVP2 receptor function is crucial for developing targeted therapies for fluid balance disorders.
