The calf squeeze test is a clinical examination technique where firm pressure is applied to the calf muscle to assess for pain or tenderness, indicating possible deep vein thrombosis (DVT). It is important in clinical practice as a quick, non-invasive method to help identify patients at risk of venous thromboembolism. A positive test suggests the need for further investigation due to the risk of complications like pulmonary embolism.
