Catastrophic APS (CAPS)

Catastrophic Antiphospholipid Syndrome (CAPS) is a severe form of antiphospholipid syndrome characterised by widespread thrombosis in multiple organs, leading to acute organ failure. It is clinically significant due to its rapid progression and high mortality rate, necessitating prompt diagnosis and aggressive treatment. A key association is the presence of antiphospholipid antibodies, which can complicate management in patients with underlying autoimmune disorders.
