Gloassary term:

Cooling of face

Cooling of the face refers to a localized decrease in skin temperature due to reduced blood flow or increased heat loss, often observed in conditions affecting autonomic regulation or vascular supply. Clinically, it signals impaired circulation or sympathetic dysfunction, aiding diagnosis of stroke or peripheral vascular disease. For example, unilateral facial cooling may indicate ipsilateral carotid artery occlusion.
