Dorsiflexors are the muscles responsible for lifting the foot upwards towards the shin, primarily including the tibialis anterior. They are crucial for normal gait, enabling foot clearance during the swing phase and preventing tripping. Weakness or paralysis of dorsiflexors, such as in foot drop, can lead to impaired mobility and increased risk of falls.
