« Back to Glossary Index

Everters are muscles that rotate the sole of the foot outward, away from the midline, primarily the fibularis longus and brevis. They are essential for maintaining lateral ankle stability and proper gait mechanics, preventing excessive inversion that can lead to sprains. Weakness or injury to everters is commonly associated with recurrent ankle sprains and instability.
