« Back to Glossary Index

Fascial stiffness refers to the reduced elasticity and increased rigidity of the connective tissue layers surrounding muscles and organs, often due to fibrosis or chronic inflammation. This altered biomechanical property can impair movement, contribute to pain syndromes, and affect tissue healing. It is commonly associated with conditions such as myofascial pain syndrome, where increased fascial stiffness exacerbates muscle dysfunction and discomfort.
