Hepatic synthesis refers to the liver’s production of essential proteins and molecules, including albumin, clotting factors, and acute-phase reactants, critical for maintaining homeostasis. It is fundamental in clinical practice because impaired hepatic synthesis can lead to coagulopathy, hypoalbuminemia, and altered drug metabolism, affecting patient management and prognosis. A key clinical association is liver cirrhosis, where reduced synthetic function contributes to bleeding risk and fluid imbalance.
