Mechanical back pain refers to discomfort originating from the spine’s musculoskeletal structures, such as muscles, ligaments, intervertebral discs, or facet joints, typically worsened by movement and relieved by rest. It is the most common cause of low back pain, critical to distinguish from serious pathology. Chronic cases may lead to functional impairment and reduced quality of life.
