Gloassary term:

Non-organic problems

Non-organic problems are symptoms or signs without identifiable structural or biochemical abnormalities, often linked to psychological or functional causes. Recognising these is crucial to avoid unnecessary investigations and to direct appropriate management, such as psychological support. A common example is functional neurological symptom disorder, where neurological symptoms occur without organic pathology.
