Rosuvastatin is a potent HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor used to lower low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and reduce cardiovascular risk. It matters clinically for preventing atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease in patients with hyperlipidaemia or established heart disease. A key consideration is its potential to cause myopathy, especially when combined with certain other medications.
