Thromboprophylaxis

Thromboprophylaxis refers to the preventive measures taken to reduce the risk of thrombus formation, particularly venous thromboembolism (VTE), in at-risk patients. It is crucial in clinical practice as VTE can lead to serious complications, including pulmonary embolism and increased morbidity and mortality. Common methods of thromboprophylaxis include the use of anticoagulants, mechanical devices, and early mobilization, especially in surgical and immobilised patients.
