Vagal response

A vagal response is a reflex activation of the vagus nerve causing sudden bradycardia, hypotension, and sometimes syncope due to increased parasympathetic tone. It is clinically important as it can lead to fainting during procedures or stress, requiring prompt recognition to prevent injury. A common trigger is pain or emotional distress, which may complicate invasive interventions.
