Direct trauma refers to injury caused by an external force applied directly to a specific body part, resulting in localized tissue damage. It is clinically important because it helps determine the mechanism of injury, guides assessment, and influences treatment decisions. A common example is a blunt force impact causing a fracture or contusion at the site of contact.
