Sibutramine is a centrally acting serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor formerly used as an anti-obesity agent to suppress appetite and promote weight loss. It matters clinically due to its impact on neurotransmitters regulating satiety, but was withdrawn in many countries because of increased cardiovascular risk, including hypertension and tachycardia, limiting its therapeutic use.
