Cheyne–Stokes breathing

Cheyne–Stokes breathing is a cyclical pattern of respiration characterized by gradual increases and decreases in tidal volume followed by periods of apnea. It reflects instability in the respiratory control system and often indicates severe heart failure or central nervous system injury. Recognising this pattern aids diagnosis and guides management of underlying conditions.
