Premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) are early heartbeats originating from the ventricles, disrupting the normal heart rhythm. Clinically, they can indicate underlying cardiac issues, especially in patients with structural heart disease, and may lead to more serious arrhythmias if frequent. A key association is their occurrence in patients with ischaemic heart disease, where they may signify increased risk of ventricular tachycardia or sudden cardiac death.
