Hypodense lesion

A hypodense lesion is an area on imaging studies, such as CT scans, that appears darker than the surrounding tissue, indicating lower density, often due to fluid, necrosis, or a lack of cellularity. Recognising hypodense lesions is crucial in clinical practice as they can signify various conditions, including tumours, abscesses, or cysts, necessitating further investigation. A common example is a liver abscess, which can lead to significant complications if not promptly addressed.
