Hypercoagulability

Hypercoagulability is a pathological state characterised by an increased tendency for blood to clot, resulting from an imbalance between pro-coagulant and anti-coagulant factors. This condition is clinically significant as it raises the risk of thromboembolic events, such as deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, which can lead to severe complications, including organ damage or death. A common association is with inherited disorders like Factor V Leiden mutation.
