Achilles tendinopathy is a chronic disorder characterised by pain, swelling, and impaired function of the Achilles tendon due to degenerative changes and failed healing responses. It is clinically important as it commonly affects athletes and active individuals, leading to reduced mobility and prolonged recovery. A key complication is tendon rupture, which can result from untreated or severe tendinopathy.
