« Back to Glossary Index

Achilles tendinopathy and rupture refer to pathological changes and tearing of the Achilles tendon, the strong fibrous cord connecting calf muscles to the heel bone, often resulting from overuse or sudden excessive strain. Clinically, these conditions cause pain, swelling, and impaired ankle function, significantly affecting mobility and athletic performance. A key complication is tendon rupture, which may require surgical repair and prolonged rehabilitation to restore normal function.
