Beta-D-glucan [BDG]

Beta-D-glucan is a polysaccharide found in the cell walls of many fungi. Serum beta-D-glucan can support the diagnosis of several invasive fungal infections, but it is not organism-specific and must be interpreted with the clinical context and other microbiological tests.
