Body Mass Index

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a numerical value derived from an individual’s weight in kilograms divided by the square of their height in metres (kg/m²), used to categorise underweight, normal weight, overweight, and obesity. It aids clinical assessment of nutritional status and risk stratification for conditions like cardiovascular disease. Elevated BMI is strongly associated with increased risk of type 2 diabetes.
