Central adiposity

Central adiposity refers to the excessive accumulation of fat in the abdominal region, particularly around internal organs. It is clinically significant because it strongly predicts metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular risk beyond general obesity. Central adiposity is closely associated with insulin resistance, increasing the likelihood of type 2 diabetes and related complications.
