Chylomicrons are large lipoprotein particles formed in intestinal enterocytes that transport dietary triglycerides and cholesterol through the lymphatic system into the bloodstream. They are crucial for the absorption and distribution of dietary fats, influencing lipid metabolism and energy balance. Elevated chylomicron levels can contribute to hyperlipidaemia and increase the risk of pancreatitis.
