Digoxin immune Fab is a specific antibody fragment used as an antidote for digoxin toxicity, binding to digoxin and facilitating its elimination from the body. It is clinically significant as it rapidly reverses life-threatening effects of digoxin overdose, such as severe bradycardia or arrhythmias, thereby stabilising the patient. A key association is its use in cases of acute digoxin toxicity, particularly in patients with renal impairment where digoxin clearance is reduced.
