The His-Purkinje system is a specialised network of cardiac fibres responsible for rapidly conducting electrical impulses from the atrioventricular node to the ventricular myocardium, ensuring coordinated ventricular contraction. It is crucial for maintaining synchronous heartbeats and efficient cardiac output. Dysfunction in this system can lead to conduction blocks, such as bundle branch block, which may cause arrhythmias and compromise cardiac function.
