Hydroxyapatite

Hydroxyapatite is a naturally occurring calcium phosphate mineral that forms the primary inorganic component of bone and tooth enamel, providing structural rigidity and strength. Its crystalline structure is crucial for maintaining skeletal integrity and facilitating mineral exchange during bone remodeling. Clinically, abnormal deposition of hydroxyapatite crystals can contribute to pathological calcifications, such as vascular calcification in atherosclerosis.
