Injury to chest wall

Injury to the chest wall refers to trauma affecting the ribs, muscles, and soft tissues surrounding the thoracic cavity, often resulting from blunt or penetrating forces. Clinically, it is significant due to potential compromise of respiratory mechanics and underlying organs. A key complication is rib fractures causing pneumothorax, which can impair breathing and require urgent intervention.
