Oral Methyldopa

Oral Methyldopa is an antihypertensive medication primarily used to manage high blood pressure, particularly in pregnant women, due to its safety profile. It acts as a centrally acting alpha-2 adrenergic agonist, reducing sympathetic outflow and lowering peripheral vascular resistance. Clinically, it is important for preventing hypertensive complications during pregnancy, but it can be associated with side effects such as sedation and, rarely, liver dysfunction.
