Gloassary term:

Superior migration of the humeral head

Superior migration of the humeral head refers to the upward displacement of the head of the humerus within the glenoid cavity, often due to rotator cuff dysfunction or shoulder instability. This condition is clinically significant as it can lead to impingement, pain, and decreased range of motion, ultimately affecting shoulder function. A key association is with rotator cuff tears, which can exacerbate this migration and contribute to further joint degeneration.
