Transthoracic pacing

Transthoracic pacing is an emergency cardiac procedure delivering electrical impulses through the chest wall to stimulate heart contractions when intrinsic rhythm is inadequate. It is critical for managing life-threatening bradyarrhythmias or heart block before permanent pacing. A key complication is patient discomfort and risk of skin burns at electrode sites.
