Thyroid stimulating hormone

Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) is a pituitary-derived glycoprotein that regulates thyroid gland activity by stimulating synthesis and release of thyroid hormones (T3 and T4). Clinically, TSH measurement is crucial for diagnosing and managing thyroid disorders, reflecting thyroid function through negative feedback. Elevated TSH commonly indicates primary hypothyroidism.
