Fibrosis

Fibrosis is the pathological accumulation of excess fibrous connective tissue in an organ or tissue, often resulting from chronic inflammation or injury. This process can lead to impaired organ function, as the normal architecture is disrupted, making it clinically significant in conditions like pulmonary fibrosis or liver cirrhosis. A key association is the progression of fibrosis in diseases such as diabetes, where it can exacerbate complications like nephropathy.
