Antihypertensives

Antihypertensives are a class of medications used to lower blood pressure in individuals with hypertension, thereby reducing the risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke and heart attack. They work through various mechanisms, including vasodilation, diuresis, and inhibition of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system. A key example is ACE inhibitors, which can cause a persistent cough as a common side effect, highlighting the importance of monitoring patients for adverse reactions.
