Autonomic failure

Autonomic failure refers to the impaired functioning of the autonomic nervous system, which regulates involuntary bodily functions such as heart rate, blood pressure, and digestion. This condition is clinically significant as it can lead to symptoms like orthostatic hypotension, syncope, and gastrointestinal dysmotility, impacting a patient's quality of life and complicating management of other medical conditions. A key association is with neurodegenerative disorders, such as Parkinson's disease, where autonomic dysfunction is common.
