Diastolic BP

Diastolic blood pressure (DBP) is the pressure in the arteries during the relaxation phase of the cardiac cycle, specifically when the heart fills with blood. It is a critical measure for assessing cardiovascular health, as elevated DBP can indicate increased vascular resistance and is associated with a higher risk of heart disease and stroke. For example, persistent hypertension often reflects elevated DBP, necessitating intervention to prevent complications such as heart failure.
