Joint aspiration

Joint aspiration, also known as arthrocentesis, is a procedure where a needle is inserted into a joint space to withdraw synovial fluid for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes. This technique is crucial in managing joint disorders, as it helps in diagnosing conditions like infections, gout, or arthritis, and can relieve pain by reducing swelling. A key complication includes infection, which can occur if aseptic technique is not strictly followed during the procedure.
