Calcium channel blockers

Calcium channel blockers are medications that inhibit L-type calcium channels in cardiac and vascular smooth muscle, reducing intracellular calcium and causing vasodilation and decreased myocardial contractility. They are essential in managing hypertension, angina, and certain arrhythmias. A key consideration is their potential to cause peripheral oedema as a common side effect.
