Hyperkalemia

Hyperkalemia is a condition characterised by an elevated serum potassium level above the normal range, typically >5.0 mmol/L. It is clinically significant because potassium is crucial for cardiac and neuromuscular function, and excess potassium can cause life-threatening arrhythmias. Commonly associated with renal failure, hyperkalemia requires prompt recognition and management to prevent cardiac arrest.
