Small-vessel vasculitis refers to a group of disorders characterized by inflammation of the small blood vessels, including capillaries, venules, and arterioles, leading to tissue ischemia and organ damage. It is clinically significant as it can present with diverse symptoms affecting multiple systems, requiring prompt diagnosis and treatment to prevent complications such as renal failure or pulmonary hemorrhage. An example includes Granulomatosis with polyangiitis, which can cause severe respiratory and renal issues.
