Myocardial ischaemia

Myocardial ischaemia occurs when coronary blood flow is insufficient to meet the oxygen demands of the heart muscle, leading to impaired cellular metabolism and function. Clinically, it underlies angina and can progress to myocardial infarction if untreated. It is commonly associated with atherosclerotic coronary artery disease, posing significant morbidity and mortality risks.
