APTT, or activated partial thromboplastin time, is a laboratory test that measures the efficacy of the intrinsic and common coagulation pathways, specifically assessing factors I, II, V, VIII, IX, X, XI, and XII. It is crucial in monitoring patients on anticoagulant therapy, such as heparin, and in diagnosing bleeding disorders like hemophilia.
