Gloassary term:

Warfarin

Warfarin is an oral anticoagulant that inhibits vitamin K epoxide reductase, reducing the synthesis of vitamin K-dependent clotting factors II, VII, IX, and X. It is widely used to prevent and treat thromboembolic disorders such as atrial fibrillation and deep vein thrombosis. Careful monitoring is essential due to its narrow therapeutic window and risk of bleeding complications.
