Patellofemoral syndrome also known as runners knee is a common overuse disorder of the knee joint, specifically of the patellofemoral region that can not be attributed to another pathology such as a meniscus tear, tendonitis or bursitis. It typically presents as anterior knee pain behind the patella and is aggravated by activities that involve loading the patellofemoral joint such as during running or jumping.
